Cardiovascular disease (CVD), or heart disease, is an umbrella term that includes all conditions affecting the heart.
By 2020, 50 percent of global health care expenditures – about $4 trillion – will be spent on three leading causes of death: cardiovascular diseases, cancer and respiratory diseases.
According to WHO report in 2010, the age standardized rates of CVD and diabetes-related deaths in Iran were 421 per 100,000 in men and 348 per 100,000 in women.
